In his opening remarks, Chennuri Venkata Subba Row, Editor and CEO of Telugu Times, reflected on the genesis of the Business Excellence Awards, an initiative aimed at recognizing and showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit and achievements within the Telugu community. “Telugu is one of the fastest-growing languages in the USA, with nearly a million Telugus residing here. They are an integral part of the American fabric, operating numerous businesses, restaurants, and theaters. Telugu movies often premiere in the U.S. a day before their release in India. The burgeoning number of Hindu temples further signifies the deep-rooted cultural connections,” Subba Row stated.

The initiative not only honors business leaders but also underscores the thriving relationship between the Telugu states and the U.S., built on strong people-to-people ties, shared democratic values, and cultural exchanges. Subba Row highlighted the necessity of such awards to reflect the vibrant contributions of the Telugu community, especially in the technological sector, a growth attributed largely to the post-Y2K influx of Telugu professionals.

First launched in Milpitas, San Francisco in June 2023, the awards have now made their successful second appearance in Dallas, Texas. This annual event continues to celebrate the dynamic presence of the Telugu diaspora in the American business landscape, reaffirming their significant role in both local and international spheres.

For over 21 years, the Telugu Times has remained a cornerstone for the Telugu community in the U.S., providing insights and fostering a sense of identity and pride among its readership.
