'Tadeva Lagnam' released on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti

A Marathi book 'Tadeva Lagnam' which is based on various incidents that took place during the marriage match is written by Dr Rajendra Bhawalkar, founder of Akshada Vivah Sanstha who has run the marriage bureau for more than four decades. The book is verbalized by Adv. Prarthana Sadavarte and published by Adv. Shailja Molak of Shivsparsh Prakashan. The book was released by senior educationist and literary scholar Dr N. M. Joshi who has written the preface to the book. The event was presided over by former MLA Ulhasdada Pawar. The concept of widow/widower remarriage was introduced by a

grandfather of an Author, Dr Pandurang Bhawalkar, in the pre-independence period in 1945 with the awareness of social consciousness and humanity. Marriages of divorced, crippled bride/groom, senior citizens are arranged by this organization. There is a separate section for HIV positive brides and grooms as the Akshada organization strives to perpetuate interracial or interfaith love marriages said Dr Bhawalkar in his introductory speech. Adv. Sadavarte and Adv. Molak shared things and experiences associated with the book


N. M. Joshi said that the new generation does not accept compromises. He also lamented that in the last three decades, the marriage system has come to a standstill along with the social system.


As the book was released on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Gandhian thinker Ulhasdada Pawar commented on Mahatma Gandhi's views on marriage. He said that Bapu suggested people get married in a registered manner to avoid unnecessary expenses and also he was against the ritual of using rice during marriages to give blessings so he also asked people to use flowers instead of rice as in our country many people face hunger.


Additional Commissioner PMC Dnyaneshwar Molak, Pune District Judge Sunil Vedpathak, former Inspector General of Prisons Dr Vitthal Jadhav, rural story Writer and senior literary Baban Potdar, former corporate Harishchandra Dangat were present. Rasika Bhawalkar expressed her gratitude while Santosh Chordia conducted the program.
