Dr. Deepali Shirgave, Principal of Vishwakalyan English Medium School, Chikhali, Pune, recently participated in a Master Training Program on Life Skills for School Going Children. The program, organized by UNESCO, NCERT, and CBSE at NCERT in New Delhi, aimed to enhance the promotion of physical and mental well-being among students.
"Education, especially school education, plays a crucial role in fostering life skills," said Dr. Shirgave. "It exposes children to diverse experiences, providing ample opportunities to learn and practice life skills."
The program focused on three key objectives: expanding knowledge, nurturing positive attitudes, and enhancing life skills. Expert resource persons shared insights and guidance on topics such as adolescent health, emotional regulation, and mindful practices.
"The program equipped us with strategies to prioritize students' well-being and create a supportive learning environment," added Dr. Shirgave. "By integrating life skills into the curriculum, we can empower students to make informed decisions and lead healthy, responsible lives."
On the final day of the workshop, participants received certificates from Mr. Manoj Srivastava, Director of NCERT CBSE Training. The program's impact is expected to extend beyond the participating principals, reaching countless students across India.
This initiative underscores the growing recognition of the importance of life skills in education. With a focus on holistic development, schools can foster a generation of young individuals who are equipped with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for a healthy and fulfilling future
