Pushkar Sharma’s flamboyance outplays Obuya Academy in a comprehensive manner

In an exhibition contest in the NPCA Super 50 Overs competition, Ruaraka A defeated Obuya Academy A by a margin of 8 wickets at the Ruaraka Sports Club Ground, Nairobi.

Earlier in the game, Ruaraka A had won the coin flip and elected to field first.

The Obuya Cricket Academy’s side was reeling at 0-4 at the end of the first over of the enthralling encounter.

It was the skipper, Collins Obuya who stood at one end and built short partnerships with Brian Isiah and Elijah Otieno. Collins was the top scorer for them with 64 runs from 89 deliveries and therefore steered his team to a total of 134 after 33.2 overs. Sachin took 5 wickets, and Yogesh Sawant and Nitish Hirani bagged two wickets each as well.

In reply, Ruaraka A lost Chandresh Hirani quite early in the innings, but it was once again their pillar, Pushkar Sharma who took control of the game and made sure that the home team doesn’t fall anything short of the target.

The southpaw gained support from the other end in his hunt, and therefore stitched a partnership of 100 runs for the 2nd wicket. Sachin, who came at no.3 departed for 46 (35), and Pushkar’s flamboyant batting stayed unbridled until the finishing line. The opener was unbeaten at 61* of 53 deliveries with 9 fours under his name.

After the match, Pushkar Sharma who has contracted again with BlackBird Sports Company from India said special thanks for the support and for providing cricket equipment to him.

Also added, "I am happy with my performance and want to keep it going, I am very thank full to Mansukh Hirani who supported me a lot in Kenya, and my family too”.
