On a vibrant Tuesday evening, the Young FICCI Ladies Organization (YFLO) Hyderabad Chapter hosted a transformative session titled "Balance & Bliss" at The Park Hotel, Somajiguda. This novel event sought to merge the realms of beauty and wellness, offering a fresh perspective on achieving harmony in our fast-paced lives.
The session featured a distinguished panel of experts, including Mira Kapoor, Co-founder of 'Akind' Beauty; Vasudha Rai, an acclaimed author, podcaster, and columnist in beauty and wellness; and Dr. Pooja Talera, an Aesthetic Physician and Director of KOSA Wellbeing. Each panelist shared their unique insights on integrating beauty and wellness for a more fulfilling and balanced lifestyle.
Ridhi Jain, Chairperson of YFLO, opened the event with thought-provoking remarks. She emphasized that while beauty typically focuses on external appearance—enhancing physical features through makeup, hairstyling, and skincare—wellness represents a more comprehensive concept. Wellness encompasses physical, mental, and emotional well-being, aiming for a holistic approach to health and balance. Jain stressed the importance of merging these aspects to navigate today’s demanding world and to inspire a more harmonious daily life.
Mira Rajput Kapoor, renowned for co-founding the skincare brand 'Akind', underscored the ongoing journey of maintaining balance. "To keep the magic of life alive, we must continuously strive for balance," Kapoor said. She highlighted the value of consistency in skincare and drew attention to the timeless wisdom passed down through generations. "Skincare is personal, but what remains constant is the need for consistency," she added.
Vasudha Rai, whose expertise spans over two decades in beauty and wellness, shared her insights on embracing and celebrating one's natural self. Her bestselling book, Glow: Indian Foods, Recipes, and Rituals for Beauty, Inside and Out, revives the use of traditional ingredients and practices in modern life. Rai, also a certified yoga teacher, emphasized that skin color should not be a measure of beauty. "Celebrate what you have, and let that be your guide," she advised.
Dr. Pooja Shah Talera, with over 13 years of experience in beauty and wellness and training from Singapore, reflected on the evolution of the industry. "Our ancestors created beauty formulations with what they had, and today we benefit from those traditional practices through advanced products. Despite these luxuries, we often lack the time for such extensive routines," Dr. Talera noted. She also observed the booming growth of the beauty industry and its potential for continued innovation.
The event saw an enthusiastic turnout of over 300 members, all eager to gain insights into blending beauty with holistic wellness. This session not only provided valuable knowledge but also fostered a deeper understanding of integrating these two essential aspects of life for achieving true balance and bliss.
