Hyderabad witnessed a significant milestone in the field of packaging education as the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Hyderabad, held its first convocation ceremony for the 1st and 2nd batches of the Master of Science in Packaging Technology program. The event took place at Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy HRD Institute, Jubilee Hills, on Saturday, marking an important day for both the institute and the graduating students.
A Prestigious Event with Esteemed Guests
The convocation was graced by prominent personalities, including Prof. V. Balakrishna Reddy, the in-charge Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), who served as the Chief Guest and awarded certificates to the graduates. Mr. RK Mishra, IRS, Director of IIP Mumbai, also attended the ceremony, adding to its significance.
Words of Wisdom and Encouragement
Addressing the gathering, Prof. V. Balakrishna Reddy congratulated the students on their transition from learners to professionals, stating that they are now ready to contribute to the industry as employees. He emphasized that five key factors—Globalization, Liberalization, Digitalization, Privatization, and Covidisation—are shaping the future of businesses worldwide. He urged the students to innovate and seize the numerous opportunities available in the global market.
Mr. RK Mishra highlighted Hyderabad's importance as an educational and industrial hub, making it an ideal location for IIP. He spoke about the rapid growth of the packaging industry, which is currently expanding at a double-digit rate. "This is a golden era for packaging professionals," he noted, encouraging students to embrace technology rather than fear it. Drawing a parallel with the advent of computers in the 1980s, Mishra reminded the graduates that, like computers, technology in packaging will create more jobs and improve efficiency.
He also stressed the importance of continuous learning, advising students to differentiate themselves by staying updated with industry trends and adding specialized certifications to their qualifications. "Your skills and knowledge will set you apart from your peers," he remarked.
IIP’s Vision for the Future
Mr. Mishra also shared exciting developments for the Indian Institute of Packaging. A new packaging lab is being established in Mumbai, set to be operational by 2026, and a regional center has recently opened in Lucknow. He concluded his speech by reminding graduates to honor both their mothers and their alma mater: "Your mother gave you life, and your institution has given you intellect."

During the ceremony, 30 students received their convocation certificates. Ms. Aparna, a standout from the first batch, was recognized as the subject topper and awarded a prestigious gold medal for her achievements.
