Heritage International School Hosts Road Safety Workshop to Empower Youth

Pune, India – With road traffic accidents emerging as a significant public health concern worldwide, Heritage International School has taken a proactive step to promote awareness and preventive measures among its students. The school recently organized a workshop on road safety for students from Grades 7 to 10 in collaboration with Sakal’s initiative, 'Road Safety - Janajagruti Abhiyan.'

The session was led by Mrs. Geetanjali, a dedicated advocate for road safety, renowned for her relentless efforts to educate the public about the tragic consequences of road accidents. Drawing from her extensive experience, she delivered an engaging and thought-provoking presentation, showcasing impactful videos and sharing alarming statistics on road traffic accidents in India, including the 1,000 road accidents reported in Pune alone.

The workshop addressed critical aspects of road safety, such as road design, traffic management, vehicle safety, and the behavioural patterns of road users. Mrs Geetanjali emphasized the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach, urging collaborative efforts from government agencies, NGOs, academia, and the general public to tackle road safety challenges.

Students actively participated, gaining insights into practical and innovative solutions, including technological advancements, policy interventions, and community-driven initiatives. Mrs Geetanjali also highlighted the pressing challenges faced in India, such as inadequate infrastructure, limited awareness, and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules.

Speaking on behalf of the school management, Principal Dr. Renu Patil expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sakal for spearheading this impactful initiative. "Creating awareness among the youth is a pivotal step towards a safer future," Dr. Patil remarked. "We are proud to support Sakal's efforts and are committed to continuing this dialogue in our community."

The session at Heritage International School is part of a larger awareness campaign by 'Road Safety - Janajagruti Abhiyan,' which aims to reach schools across the region. Together, such initiatives hope to instil a culture of responsible road usage, ensuring a safer environment for all.
