'Empowering Resilience: Heritage International School's Anti-Drug Seminar'

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger." This timeless adage underscores the resilience that Heritage International School aims to instill in its students through proactive initiatives like the recent Anti-Drug Awareness Program organized by the Rotary Interact Club members.

The seminar, targeting students from Grade 6 to Grade 10, kicked off with an insightful awareness session. It featured the Grade 10 students, who formed the Anti Narcotics Committee of Heritage International School (HIS). This committee took the lead in educating their peers about the devastating effects of drugs and other intoxicants.

Dr. Renu Patil, the Principal of Heritage International School, addressed the students with a powerful message. She emphasized the importance of choosing their peers wisely and resisting the influence of toxic individuals. "When given a choice, choose life over drugs and save yourself from trauma. The word 'addiction' itself sounds negative; it’s not for you. Always make the right choice," she urged.

The seminar also featured teachers and counselors from HIS, who elaborated on the harmful impact and consequences of consuming intoxicants like alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs. The school counselor enriched the session by presenting short films and a TEDx talk by Anil Avchat, the renowned founder of Muktangan Vyasanmukti Kendra. These resources, alongside a video from the Anti Narcotics NGO of India, offered the students a deeper understanding of the perils of drug use.

The program left a lasting impression on the students, prompting thoughtful reflections and discussions. The management of Heritage International School—Founder President Mr. Krishna Bhilare, Secretary Mrs. Sangeeta Bhilare, and Director Mr. Kunal Bhilare—praised the students' initiative in raising awareness among their peers and schoolmates. Their collective effort stands as a testament to the school's commitment to nurturing informed, resilient, and responsible young individuals.

By investing in themselves and their capabilities, the students of Heritage International School are not only protecting their future but also fostering a community of support and awareness. The Anti-Drug Awareness Program is a shining example of how education and proactive engagement can empower the next generation to make positive choices and build a stronger, healthier society.
